Another busy week ahead, with Saturday alone bringing a big Star Wars Fan Fest at Cheney Library and another K-9 Kerplunk Doggie Dunk at Globe Hollow and, over at Northwest Park, the start of the ninth annual Jon Scribner Memorial Baseball Tournament. Thursday (5-7 p.m.) -- MELC town-wide 'Back to School' party at Waddell.
Thursday (6-7:30 p.m.) -- Nature Explorers program at Charter Oak Park
 
The Coast Guard Band brings the Band Shell season to an end next Wednesday night.

The Star Wars Fan Fest is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cheney Library and will include costumed characters, trivia games, Jedi lessons and more.
On Tuesday, Bryson Lang is at Whiton (3:30 p.m.) and then Cheney (6:30 p.m.) with a creative, high-energy, family-friendly comedy-juggling act.

Will Knight (MHS '06) fought on ESPN+ on Tuesday night, defeating Herdem Alacabek in a Dana White Contender Series match. You can see a clip here and read more here and, yes, Dana White -- president of the UFC -- is from Manchester. His Wikipedia entry has more.

Who's a Good Boy?
Dog Day of Summer: The event at Globe Hollow is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and all licensed, well-behaved dogs and their owners are welcome to attend -- but swimming is for dogs only. There is a $5 admission fee per dog (maximum of 2 dogs per handler) and it all benefits the Manchester Youth Commission.
