A new statue. A new song. A new site for the Little Road Race. Those are some of the story lines as we get ready for another Manchester Mardi Gras -- the 83rd running of the Thanksgiving Day road race. It's two weeks from today and we have lots of info to share. Also, an unrelated reminder:  You can subscribe and get this newsletter on Thursday nights by clicking here.
The basics: The MRR website has most everything you need to know, including registration information.
The LMRR: The Little Manchester Road Race is moving this year to Manchester High School. It's on Saturday Nov. 23 -- but registration is closed.
The statue: A life-size likeness of Joe McCluskey (Olympic medalist and four-time MRR winner) was unveiled last weekend opposite Highland Park Market.
The song: To commemorate the event, Town troubadour Bill Ludwig released
"(Run On) Shufflin' Joe" and it's on YouTube.
Unveiled last Saturday by Mayor Moran, the statue was created by Michael Keropian (right), a Manchester product whose portfolio includes tiger statues at Detroit's Comerica Park.
The Manchester Land Conservation Trust is sponsoring a cleanup of Risley Reservoir on Saturday.
