What a weekend: COVID-19 has the world in a health and economic crisis and to that we added both an inspiring SpaceX flight and dispiriting chaos in cities throughout the country growing out of protests about police brutality. Just keeping up with all the news can be exhausting but we continue to try to do our small part in keeping tabs on happenings here in Manchester. SCIENCE SYMPOSIUM

Students in a science research class have an annual science symposium that this year will be done over ZOOM. It's tonight from 7-8:45 p.m. and the details are here.
MHS STUDENTS IN CONTENTION FOR FOX-61 SCHOLARSHIP
Annabelle Watson (left), Kely Maloney, Sam Mushinski and Meredith Keyt submitted this story about Hartford Winterfest to FOX 61 Student News earlier this year and it's been nominated for an award.
Fox's Best in Student News contest has a Community Events category and the MHS piece is one of five nominees. Winners will be announced on June 10 and the top team will split a $2500 scholarship.
DISTRICT INFO AND RESOURCES
Superintendent Matt Geary sent an email Friday to members of the MPS community that was also posted on Facebook, where it was widely shared during the weekend.

MPS MUSIC TEACHERS CONCERT FROM HOME

OF NOTE
  • There will be no food distribution at Manchester Middle Academy on Wednesday and Thursday this week. The other three sites in town will be open as usual.

CAUGHT ON FILM
Posted on the Manchester Crime and Safety Watch Facebook page:  After a routine call last night, Officer Cory Fullana from Manchester PD stayed behind and helped a neighbor carry furniture up to his second-floor apartment. The post by Kate Lewonczyk had more than 700 likes by this morning.
TOWN GOVERNMENT
  • The Board of Directors is scheduled to meet virtually tomorrow night at 7 and the agenda is here. People who want to speak must complete this form by 6 p.m. Tuesday.
RECRUITING WEBINAR

Seth DeValve, a 2011 Manchester high grad now playing in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers, is hosting a free online seminar to educate and prepare high school student-athletes on how to position themselves to get recruited academically & athletically.

Driven By Generosity
Saturday at St. Bridget's Church, the Knights of Columbus collected over 1,500 food items and over $600 in cash donations to benefit MACC.
